Two forces, pushing against each other. I live on a hill and the wind blows all the time. We have a 90 year old tree that leans toward the wind, like the tree in my painting. For 90 years this tree has battled the wind, each pushing against the other. When Hurricane Ike came though last year we had 90 mile an hour winds for 3 hours. Our electricity was out for 3 1/2 days. There was 1 million people without electricity, because of all the trees that had blown over. But there on the hill, still standing, is our old tree. Because the struggle, pushing against the wind, had made it stronger, so it was able to stand when the storm came. Do you have things and circumstances pushing against you?

I will be loading the van up today for my art show this weekend. The first show of the year is always difficult. I always have a lot of new work and have no idea on how I am going to hang the work at the show. I will spend a couple hours moving the paintings around until I get it right. I hope some of you like paintings with a single tree on a hill, because I really like painting them. There is so much that can be read into a solitary tree. Solitude, Loneliness,Pride, Indifference, or as a watchman. Hence the Name "Standing Watch". I guess it depend on your perspective. Are you looking at the tree or are you the tree.

So far the hardest thing about doing a painting a day is taking Photos, editing and getting them on the computer. It take so much time that it is hard to get in the mental state to paint. So I think I need to paint like a maniac, and designate a certain day to do all the computer work. I had to drive to Lexington, Kentucky today to pick up some paintings that I had in a gallery there. They had been putting off remodeling for some time, and the economy being as it is., they figured this was the perfect time. They will reopen for the winter holiday shopping season. I'm sure the economy will be in full swing by then. HUH!

Still at it, I am enjoying the smaller paintings. I left early this morning for a painting day with other artist, so I have been painting all day long. Last night I went to an Easter service. Six of us artist were painting on 2 feet x 3 feet canvases with our hands. I was black paint on a white canvas. Each individual canvas, honestly looked like something that a two year old would do. We stacked them together to form a 6ft x 6ft painting. We purposely stacked them so they didn't look like anything, to confuse the audience. Confuse them, we did! Then on cue, we flipped them over and they formed a bust of Jesus with a crown of thorns. Is was a rousing success and a lot of fun!

I've been doing my taxes today, and probable will be doing them tomorrow. Maybe the next day, also. I have some paintings in a show in Bloomington that I need to pick up. It's a 4 hour turn around, so that will probably waste a whole day. Four hours, that's assuming that I don't linger in the cool coffee shop, and take to long eating a Chipotles Chicken Burrito. We are having great difficulty with my sons Junior year. I'll be glad when school is out, just hoping to survive it al this point. Here ia a painting that I painted yesterday.

Not enough Time - large sunset painting on canvas
Everyone says you have to market youself on the internet in order to sell on the internet. The different things that you can do to market yourself are endless. It's really hard to know, what is the best use of your time. It is a little overwelming. I seem to spend all of my time on the computer, trying to keep up with it. Then I am too mentally wore out to get any painting done. So today I am tired and fustrated. I did manage to paint this painting.
