As my brain isn't wired like a normal person, I did this painting in a way that some people would call backwards. I painted the yellow trees first then the distant trees, then mountain, then sky. The last thing was to put the tree trunks in.
-
-
This is a short cut that keeps me from having to do a lot of drawing. I hate to draw, and I think for me at least, it is a much freer way to paint. It also keeps me from having to use Masking Fluid, to save the white of the paper. I want instant gratification.
-
-
I figure,by the time I draw it out and then paint the masking fluid on, I will already have the painting done. So why bother with all that. I always look for the simpliest way to paint a painting.

As you can probable tell. I am currently on a miniature Aceo painting binge. It is really easy to experiment painting very small paintings. I get a lot of ideas for larger paintings by painting miniatures.

I had another painting demonstration this past weekend. They commissioned me to paint a scene of fall trees in acrylic, painting during a Banquet. At the end, they gave it away as a door prize. I guess, when I do that kind of thing, I should be taking pictures and posting them on this Blog, DUH! I am a little slow.

I used a little acrylic to put the white highlight on the trees. Because Acrylic paint has a reflective quality, it give the trees a little sparkle.

The Remodel
First I had 5 consecutive weekend Art shows, then the past 10 days, I have been remodeling the Kitchen. I put Granite tiles over top of our existing Formica counter tops, and added a tile back splash. Of course, the new tile didn't match the room color, so I had to paint the room. I going to say that painting is a lot easier than tiling. My wife thinks it looks great, and she calls it our new SEMI- PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN.
-
-
Impending Doom
So, I thought I didn't want to put the old sink back into a new counter top. With some convincing I talked my wife into getting a new sink. It was 9 at night and we had been without a sink in the kitchen for 3 days. So we decided to go ahead and put it in.
-
At the last minute, my wife says, "You know, you are going to ruin those clothes".
Fine, what ever! So now I am prepared to install the sink in my boxers.
-
-
The Incident
The new sink is cast iron, very heavy, we have to be careful not to chip the granite. So I get my son to lay under the sink and do his Superman imitation. We put the sink in the hole, and my son supports it from the bottom side, like he's doing a Bench Press. When we lower the sink, we can't get it to fit quite right, then we hear the Granite starting to crackle. This was suppose to be easy!!!
-
-
I have to get that sink out in a hurry, so it doesn't break the Granite. So I grab it with both hands and jerk it out. I had to throw it against my body to get it out without bumping the Granite. Turns out the sink was just slightly smaller than it said it was suppose to be, and that was just enough for it not to fit.
-
-
The Aftermath
You remember my wife told me I would ruin my clothes. Well she ruined her clothes.
Remember when I jerked the sink out real quick. I got that rubbery Caulk all over my stomach. We had to put the old sink back in quickly before the caulk dried. We got the old sink in fine, but while we were putting the old sink back in the Caulk that I had on me, dried. I took me an hour of scrubbing in the shower to get that stuff off.
