Isn't that funny, trees are as competitive as people. Each one trying to out grow the other. I have 2 sons. We saw this start to happen to each of them the 6ith grade. Up until then their school classmates were a big happy family. In the 6th grade they started picking on each other, some bully started. They were developing a pecking order. I guess we are still doing that as adults. We no longer pick on people for wearing glasses. But we are still doing our best to beat them out for that promotion, any way we can. Some things never change.

  1. Gorgeous painting.

I can see some of what you're talking about, but I don't agree in general. I see a lot of communities where everyone is coexisting very well--and where everyone wants everyone else to be successful. I talk to my boys (who are both in high school) about how there's always going to be someone better than them at whatever it is they're doing, but that they should try to be the best they can for their OWN good.

  2. It is out there, it doesn't mean we have to participate in it.
