This painting is painted on wood. These rectangular shapes remind me of my Grandmothers quilts. My brother and I stayed with her during the summer, and she had us help her tie the knots between the patterns.

Generally my abstracts are a lot more structured. I am thinning the acrylic down and squirting it on using small plastic bottles,kind of like icing a cake. Then I tilt it and let it run.
I'm am taking them to a show this weekend, it will be interesting to see what kind of response they get.

This is my new obsession painting on Wood, it is extremely time consuming but I really enjoy painting on the flat dry surface. I have to cut the wood,then make into a frame. Cut masonite and nail it to the frame,fill the nail holes,then sand. I then have to apply 4 coats of Gesso and sand in between each coat. By this time I probably could have painted 3 paintings.
It is much drier than canvas and because the surface is flat the paint flattens out when you apply it. So you are seeing a lot more brush strokes which is what I like about it.

Doing something a little different here. I have started painting on wood this is one of my first. This painting is so large, it took me 2 weeks to build up the nerve to start on it.

Art Show

I am doing at art Show at the Summit in Louisville,Kentucky. Just off the Gene Snyder Freeway.
