I'm back! Original Acrylic landscape panorama painting

Well, I'm back from my last art show. It was a grueling year. Not so much because of the number of shows that I did. More so, because it was stressful. There is just to much uncertainty. A normally great show in this economy, can be a really bad, lose money show right now. As an example, I did a show in South Bend , Indiana in June. It is normally a very good show.

I was driving through downtown South Bend, going to the show to set my tent up. I was listening to NPR. A story came on about the City with the highest unemployment in the nation. The winner was Elkart, Indiana which is a Sister city to South Bend. You can guess how that show went.

Hopefully I can get back to posting more regularly. Here we Go!

Leaving for the Madison Chautauqua as soon as I finish this post. 70% chance of rain today. I hope I'm not sitting in the tent all alone today. I did some new modern watercolors, some are humorous, some are fun, we will see if they are a big hit.

I have had 3 shows the last few weeks. In between the shows I have been painting frantically to prepare for the next show, so I haven't spent a lot of time on the computer. I really do have a one track mind. A detour to ponder other things, can throw me totally out of a creative mood and into a rut. Invariably after my last show is over, I will have a creative crash and burn. But until then, back to the drawing board, literally! Hopefully in Mid- October, I can get back to Posting in a more regular fashion.

How you doing!

How you doing!
Right now I am in the middle of a stretch of 5 art shows. I hope to start posting work again when my schedule lightness. In between traveling, I am painting and framing into the wee hours of the morning. This weekend I will be at the Penrod Art Fair in Indianapolis. It's on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It is a one day show, Saturday Sept 12. 40,000 people pay $18 to get in. It's one day of total chaos.

Acrylic painting a tree and clouds

This is the second painting that I painted while at the art show. I struggled a little with this one. It originally had a purple clouds on the horizon. When I got it home I decided that I didn't like that, so I changed them to light blue. Sometimes a painting just happens, it looks great, I don't have to do anything else to it. Sometimes it is laborious, and I keep going back to it, over and over, until I finally get it right. Then there are rare occasions where the best thing to do is scrap it and start over.

Original acrylic impressionist landscape sunset painting on canvas

This is one of the paintings that I painted at the art show. I gotta say it turned out really well.
I sat there all day Saturday thinking that I would paint, but I just couldn't make myself start. Sunday I just decided that I needed to start and see what happens. That's the way I work the best. The more planning I try to do, the more difficulty I have. I work best, with a general idea. Like a tree on a hill at sunset. I decided to paint a view from my house. As it is a subject that I am very familiar with. Minus the road and the Subdivision, on the distant hill, artistic license and all.
